SME

Business Advisory Services.
  • Responsible for customer retention, training of clients in business management and practices, strategic planning and management and proposal writing for the purposes of sourcing funds.
  • Liaises with all SME's training and supporting agencies such as Empretec Ghana Foundation (their Business Growth Programme), African Project Development Fund (APDF) of IFC etc.
  • Training sessions are organized for clients periodically. Funds for such programmes could be sourced from donor-funded projects already being run by Bank of Ghana, Ministry of Finance, Ministry for Private Sector Development and APDF.

Customer Service and Product Development
  • This is vital for customer retention, product development and the settlement of clients' complaints.
  • Responsible for development of appropriate products to attract deposits, credit facilities and improve on the delivery channels.
  • Attend to complaints of SME clients to minimize or avoid customer dissatisfaction.
  • The Concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) in service delivery should be the philosophical drive in the operations of the Unit.

Relationship Management and Market Structuring.

This is the focal point of the Department's operations.

Relationship Managers and their assistants establish solid linkage between the Bank and our SME clients (the Bank currently has about 209 SME clients in the Accra and Tema Zones).

The Relationship Managers will do among others the following:
  • Study the funding needs of clients, appraise their requests and assist the Senior Manager, SMEs & Rural Banking Department to obtain the needed approvals.
  • Monitor the accounts performances and report on them regularly.
  • Ensure that repayments for facilities granted are on schedule. Take all corrective steps to ensure that delinquent facilities are made healthy.
  • Regularly liaise with Business Advisory Services Unit, Business Development Unit and Customer Care/Product Development & Complaints Unit for review and design of innovative products for SME clients.
  • Ensure business growth of SME clients.

Business Development.
  • Directly responsible for winning new SME clients and retaining them.
  • Liaise with the Advisory Services, Relationship Management and Customer Service/Product Development/Customer Complaint units.
